King City Police Sgt. Bobby Carillo facing battery charge

Monterey County prosecutors are adding a new charge to the list of those King City Police Sgt. Bobby Carillo already faces.

Carillo, who already faces charges in connection with the alleged towing scam in King City, is accused of battering a 19-year-old earlier this month in Soledad.

Carillo is still on paid administrative leave and was not acting in his capacity as a law enforcement officer at the time of the Oct. 2 incident. Prosecutors have declined to say who the victim was.

Carillo is due in court Wednesday in Salinas and prosecutors say they will argue that this latest incident warrants a bail increase in the initial case against him.

Carillo is accused of colluding with acting chief Bruce Miller and his brother, Brian of Miller’s Towing, to perpetrate a towing scheme in which cars were towed and then re-sold.
