Redwood Mountain Faire raises $50k for schools, nonprofits in Santa Cruz County

The Redwood Mountain Faire, held recently in the San Lorenzo Valley, raised $50,000 for schools, nonprofits and other organizations in the region.

The festival’s organizing committee says this was a 25 percent increase from what they raised last year.

Since the Faire’s return in 2010, it has raised and distributed over $139,000 for organizations throughout Santa Cruz County.

Planning is now underway for the 2015 Faire, which will be held May 30-31, 2015.

Twenty-four separate organizations split the proceeds from the 2014 Redwood Mountain Faire based upon the number of volunteer hours each provided over the weekend. Staffing for ticket and concession booths, hospitality, safety, parking and shuttle services and a variety of other tasks totaled over 2,300 volunteer hours.
