Three injured in King City trailer park fire

Debris is all that’s left after four trailers in King City caught fire, and quickly spread to a local business. The fire ignited early Sunday morning in the 900 block of Broadway Street.

“I get a call saying the trailers were on fire. Once I heard that, I thought the worst,” said trailer park resident Jessica Bedolla.

Bedolla, a single mother, was out with friends when the fire started. But her kids were home being watched over by a friend.

“I was going crazy because I didn’t know if my kids were OK, if they had gotten burned,” said Bedolla.

Bedolla’s kids weren’t injured, all thanks to her roommate.

“He went inside, he was able to get them out in seconds because the trailer was up in flames,” said Bedolla.

But he was not so lucky. Bedolla’s roommate suffered third-degree burns and was airlifted out of the area for treatment. Two others were injured as well; one man was flown out of the area for smoke inhalation, and a Monterey County sheriff’s deputy suffered cuts to his arms while rescuing a resident inside one of the burned down-trailers.

Just next door a local dealership was also caught in the fire. Firefighter said the Borjon Auto Dealership appeared to be a total loss. The owner of the dealership said he will survive, and only lost10 cars in the fire. But others like Jessica Bedolla we’re not so fortunate.

“I had barely gotten off the streets with my kids, not even a month ago. And now look, everything is gone,” said Bedolla.

The Red Cross is assisting the people who lost their homes. Firefighters said it could take months before they can determine how the fire started.
