San Benito Co. Sheriff’s detective saves woman at Visalia hotel

A member of the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office performed livesaving CPR on a woman Tuesday while attending a conference in Visalia.

Detective Sgt. Rick Uribe was in the lobby of the Marriott Hotel in Visalia around 10 p.m. when a woman collapsed just inside the front entrance.

A crowd soon gathered around her and people began yelling for help. Uribe ran to her aid and discovered she didn’t have a pulse, so he began administering CPR until the local fire department arrived. She was then taken to a local hospital, where she’s reported to be OK, according to San Benito County Sheriff’s Capt. Eric Taylor.

Uribe’s quick action is being credited for her survival, Taylor said, and the office is incredibly proud of him.

Uribe is in Visalia attending the California State Coroner’s Association Training Symposium.
