Police: Man beaten with bat during Watsonville robbery

Watsonville police said a man was beaten with a bat during a robbery at a Rodriguez Street store Sunday.

Two suspects entered the La Tiendita market around 9:30 p.m. on Sept. 7 and one pulled out a bat. He then attacked the clerk with the bat and demanded money. The second suspect went to the cash register, took an undisclosed amount of cash and then both suspects fled from the store.

Police found the 32-year-old clerk suffering numerous contusions to the head. He was treated at the scene and then transported to a Bay Area trauma center for further treatment.

The suspects are described as Hispanic males, both around 18-20 years old, one about 5’4″ and the other 5’6″.
