Salinas police testing out body cameras

Salinas police are testing out new “body” cameras.

The department says it’s hoping that this will help with some of the trust issues between the police department and the community, by providing a transparency tool.

Right now, the department is still testing the cameras out and there’s no time table yet for when that will be completed. It’s also not yet known how much the program will eventually cost to implement, but the department hopes funding can come from private donations.
