Monterey antiques store robbed at gunpoint; suspects on the lam

An antiques store on Lighthouse Avenue was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday morning.

Monterey police said an unknown suspect entered the All American Antiques Shop around 10:30 a.m. armed with a handgun and ordered everyone in the store to lie on the floor.

The suspect took around $1,200 from the store, then fled out the front door on foot and through the former Kentucky Fried Chicken parking lot. The suspect is described as a possibly Hispanic male, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and a white surgical mask.

Witnesses followed the suspect and saw him get into black Jaguar with chrome wheels being driven by a second suspect. They fled south on Laine at a high rate of speed and are still outstanding.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Monterey Police Department at 646-3830 or the confidential tip line at 646-3840.
