Miss Monterey County Fair 2014 contest opens for entries

Entries are now being accepted for the Miss Monterey County Fair 2014 contest.

Fair officials say the ideal candidate to represent the 78th annual fair will “possess a
congenial personality, an attractive appearance and knowledge of the fair and agricultural community.”

Entries must be received or postmarked by Tuesday, July 22. To be eligible, contestants must be California residents between the ages of 16 and 21, never married and without children.

The contest will be held on Aug. 7 at the Monterey County Fairgrounds starting at 2:30 p.m.

The winner will receive a $1,000 scholarship and an original trophy belt buckle.
