One arrested in Morgan Hill drive-by shooting

A woman wanted in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred on June 20 has been arrested, Morgan Hill police said.

Deja Ayala turned herself in the night of June 24. She was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder and committing a felony while out on bail.

Police Department are still seeking Francisco Diaz and Nicholas Young.

Officers responded to Spring Avenue and Monterey Road around 11 p.m. to investigate reports of gun shots heard in the area. They found two victims — a 25-year-old Gilroy man who was shot in the upper torso and arm, and a 29-year-old Morgan Hill man who’d escaped injury.

Officers determined that an argument ensued between two groups of males, and when the two victims tried to walk away, Young and Diaz continued to yell at them.

Police say the two suspects later got into a car driven by Ayala, and drove by the victims. Multiple gun shots were seen and heard coming from inside the car and the trio fled.

Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call Detective Tacazon of the Morgan Hill Police Department 408-779-2101 or the anonymous tip line at 408-947-STOP (7867).
