Habitat for Humanity of Santa Cruz County presents 39th affordable home

Habitat for Humanity of Santa Cruz County recently completed its 39th house and community members presented the new homeowner with keys to the 500-square foot home Tuesday.

Volunteers dedicated 3,500 hours to the project — with new homeowner Everett Smith putting in 500 of those hours.

The city of Santa Cruz is credited with finding the building site, and Thrivent Financial helped with funding the construction costs.
