Bicyclist killed in accident off Laureles Grade

Just before 3:00 pm on Saturday, California Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Saddle Road, off of Laureles Grade.

An 83 year old man driving a 2013 Toyota had collided with a 54 year old bicyclist. The bicyclist had major injuries and was taken to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.

The bicyclist, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead the hospital.

The driver of the Toyota, who also has not been identified, did not have any injuries.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash. The cause of the collision is being investigated by CHP.
