Highway 17 back open after tree fell during evening commute

7:55p.m. update: California Highway Patrol says Highway 17 is open in both directions.

California Highway Patrol, along with Santa Cruz Police, are redirecting traffic on Highway 17 after a tree fell during the evening commute Monday.

Highway 1 north is completely closed between Highway 17 and Pasatiempo and crews have motorists turning around. CHP also has all on ramps closed down in that span.

If you’re stuck in traffic, take Highway 1 south to Highway 129 into Watsonville. From there, you can get onto Highway 101 N. headed into San Jose.
