Dodgers’ lawyers to make case in Giant fan lawsuit

The defense for the Los Angeles Dodgers and former owner Frank McCourt has begun presenting its side in a lawsuit stemming from the beating of a San Francisco Giants fan in a Dodger Stadium parking lot after a 2011 game between the rivals.

Major League Baseball security expert and former Secret Service agent Bob Campbell testified Tuesday that the security he observed in the stadium was greater than any he had seen except for a presidential visit and the 2009 World Series.

Campbell testified after a defense motion to toss out the Los Angeles Superior Court lawsuit was rejected by the judge.

The suit was filed on behalf of Giants fan Bryan Stow, a Santa Cruz-area paramedic who was left with severe brain damage. Two Dodgers fans — Louis Sanchez and Marvin Norwood — pleaded guilty in the attack earlier this year.
