Santa Barbara man arrested making threats at Carmel hotel

A Santa Barbara man was arrested after he fought with Monterey County Sheriff’s deputies and vandalized a Carmel hotel.

Deputies were dispatched to the Carmel Hyatt around 10:30 p.m. Thursday for reports of a man yelling and cursing in the pool area. When staff asked Lawrence Frassoldati to return to his room, the 51-year-old man told staff to “Call the cops and make sure they bring their guns because it’s not going to end well.”

Frassoldati then told hotel staff that he killed Osama Bin Laden.

When deputies arrived, they found him standing on his hotel room balcony. He began yelling at the officers and told them he had a Beretta and an AR-15, and that he would kill the first person who walked through the door.

Deputies deployed a stun gun multiple times before being able to take Frassoldati into custody. He kicked out a patrol vehicle’s window as he was being transported to an area hospital.

Hotel staff said he caused $2,000 in damages to the hotel room, including a broken window.

Frassoldati was booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of assault, resisting arrest, making threats and vandalism.
