Man found lying in the road with fatal gunshot wound

Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a homicide. Someone driving on Harrison Rd., just north of Russel Rd., called 911 early Sunday morning to report a body lying in the northbound lane.

Deputies and officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to call to find 45-year-old Salvador Zambrano, of Salinas, laying on his back with a gunshot wound. They immediately started CPR but it was unsuccessful.
