Jury Finds Caltrans Partially Responsible for 4-Year-Old’s Death

A civil jury found Caltrans partially responsible for the death of a 4-year-old child on Highway 156 in 2010.

The Gilroy mother, Cassandra Jones, alleged that Caltrans knew of the dangerous conditions on the road, but did nothing to improve them.

A jury agreed, saying Caltrans was 60 percent responsible for the crash and awarded a $20 million verdict.
