Pre-Trial Study to Be Completed About Monterey County Jail

The Monterey County Probation Department announced Tuesday during the board of supervisors’ meeting that they will be conducting a pre-trial study to combat inmates landing back in jail.

The probation department says it is a 20,000 dollar study and it will look at pre-trial sentencing trends and court procedures. The funding for the study will be coming from the AB109 prison realignment program within the state.

The study should take several weeks and Sheriff Scott Miller will also be meeting with community groups to further the study. He hopes to address concerns about having more rehab programs in the county jail system.
