Sewage Spill Near Lover’s Point Shuts Down Beach

A sewage spill near Lover’s Point in Pacific Grove shuts down part of the beach.

The Monterey County Health Department says after 900 gallons of sewage leaked into the water, they were forced to shut down the beach until water samples were taken showing the water was safe to be around.

The county health department believes it happened sometime Sunday night, but haven’t said how exactly it happened.

Experts warn contact with the water can cause illness.
