Santa Cruz Police Investigating 2 Separate Stabbings At Homeless Shelter

Santa Cruz police are investigating two separate stabbings that happened at the Homeless Services Center on Saturday.

Officers said a male was stabbed in the arm after confronting a man who was trying to steal his bike around 8:19 a.m. It happened at the shelter located on 115 Coral St. The victim identified the suspect as William Jones. Police couldn’t find Jones after searching the area.

Jones is wanted on a probation violation for a separate matter. He is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who knows where he is should call 911.

The second stabbing at the homeless shelter occurred around 8:21 p.m. Police said a male was stabbed in his torso.

The suspect, Enoc Echevarria, was found right away at the center and was arrested.

The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a hospital.

Echevarria was booked into jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
