Surveillance Cameras Proposed for Downtown Hollister

The Hollister Police Department is making strides to install 40 security cameras in the city’s downtown area to help reduce crime.

Police Chief David Westrick says with big events like the Hollister Bike Rally every year, the cameras will help cut down on police officer costs.

So far, Westrick says the city council has had positive feedback about the project, but has asked the police department to make a few changes before bringing the plans back for consideration.

The project will cost an estimated $300,000 and is similar to the ones being worked on in the city of Seaside.
