Federal aid available for Pfeiffer fire victims

Low-interest federal disaster loans are available to California residents and business owners affected by last month’s Pfeiffer fire.

The loans are available through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) which opened a Disaster Loan Outreach Center today at the Big Sur Lodge. SBA staff will be on hand to help answer questions and provide assistance for individuals applying for loans. The outreach center will remain open until Thursday, January 30th.

The Disaster Loan Outreach Center is located at the Big Sur Lodge at 47225 Highway One, Big Sur, Calif. The center is open weekdays from 9 am to 6 pm until January 30 th .

Disaster loans up to $200,000 are available to homeowners to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate. Homeowners and renters are eligible for up to $40,000 to repair or replace damaged or destroyed personal property.

Disaster loan information and application forms are also available from SBA’s Customer Service Center by calling (800) 659-2955 or e-mailing disastercustomerservice@sba.gov.
