Two Burn Victims Flown To Hospital, Fire Started in Makeshift Shelter Made of Christmas Trees

Two people were badly injured after they accidentally started a fire in a shelter made of old Christmas trees, said firefighters.

The two victims were smoking something in the open field near the gas station on the corner of Cassentini and North Main Street, said firefighters.

According to officials on the scene, the fire was ignited when the pair fell asleep in their makeshift shelter.

Firefighters arrived on scene and found the woman totally engulfed in flames. The man was found down the road and was badly burned as well, said fire fighters.

Central Coast reporter Cassandra Arsenault is on scene and said that witnesses tried to help the victims by putting out the fire with a water bottle.
