Man Arrested On Gun, Gang Crimes After Foot Pursuit In Salinas

Salinas police said a man is behind bars after leading officers on a foot pursuit and firing a gun on Friday night.

It happened in the 1400 block of Del Monte Avenue around 9:33 p.m.
Officers said Rudolfo Villa, 27, failed to pull over when the California Highway Patrol tried stopping him after the car he was in drove into their lane. They said during the pursuit a shot was fired.

Investigators said Villa was found hiding on a nearby school campus. The gun was found in a nearby recycling bin.

No was was hurt.

There was a passenger in Villa’s vehicle. That person was detained and later released without charges.

Villa was booked into Monterey County Jail for numerous gun and gang crimes.
