Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After Stand-off Situation at Motel 6

Gilroy police arrested an armed robbery suspect at the Motel 6 on Monterey Road Thursday evening.

Gilroy officers are assisting the Vacaville Police Department, who contacted local officers around 11 a.m. about the suspects possibly being in town.

Undercover detectives located the two men at the motel, before they barricaded themselves inside. About a dozen employees and guests were evacuated from the motel during the stand-off.

Just before 5 p.m., one suspect was arrested when he peacefully surrendered to officers. As of 7 p.m., no weapons were located in the motel, as detectives continued their search.

The other man evaded arrest and officers concluded their search around 6:30 p.m.

Neither suspect has been identified by Gilroy police officers as the circumstances surrounding their alleged robbery case are not known.

Two women traveling with the suspects were initially detained, say police. One woman was eventually arrested on narcotics charges while the other was released.

In addition, 4 children (ages 1, 2 and two 14-year-olds) are in family custody.
