Petition to Recall Salinas City Councilman Jose Castaneda Is Declared Invalid

If you are among the people who wanted to see Salinas Councilman Jose Castaneda recalled, you are going to be out of luck this time.

According to the city elections office, the petition to have Castaneda recalled did not meet the the minimum number of signatures required and is invalid.

This is Castaneda’s first term as a councilman and he has been followed by controversy after he refused to give up a seat on the Alisal school board.

Ultimately a judge ordered Castaneda to give up his seat on the board if he wanted to stay on the city council.
