Seaside man arrested for attempted murder

A Seaside man is behind bars for pulling a gun on several people in Monterey, according to the Monterey Police Department.

Police responded to a large fight Saturday night involving approximately fifteen to twenty people in the area of Figueroa street and Del Monte Avenue.

Police say someone pulled a gun, pointed it at several people and pulled the trigger.

They say the suspect escaped when someone else pulled a knife and threatened the victims.

Police located the suspect, 20-year-old Gustavo Chavez, and took him into custody.

He is charged with two counts of attempted homicide, resisting arrest and a parole violation. He was booked into the Monterey County Jail.
