Central Coast law enforcement travel to procession for Davis Police Officer, Natalie Corona

Central Coast law enforcement officers traveled to Davis early this morning for the memorial service of 22 year old Natalie Corona.

Corona was a Davis Police Officer who was shot and killed January 10th. Police say she was ambushed by 48 year old Kevin Limbaugh as she was investigating a traffic accident in Davis.

She is the first Davis police officer killed in the line of duty since the 50s. Officer Corona was in just her first few weeks of patrolling on her own when she was killed.

“I can just imagine how excited she was to be off training and accomplish her goal of becoming a police officer,” says Commander Eddie Anderson with the Marina Police Department. “For her life to be cut so short and suddenly is just so disheartening.”

Commander Anderson along with officers from the Salinas and Monterey Police (Possibly among others) set up a caravan to go to the procession for Natalie Corona in Davis.

They will be alongside friends and family members of Corona who are making the trip as well as officers with the Davis Police Department.

“This case hit us all in the gut pretty hard,” says Commander Anderson. “It’s always tragic to hear about a police officer getting killed in the line of duty whether it’s by gunfire or some other accident.”

The trip lasts at least two and a half hours from the Salinas/Monterey area to Davis.

The law enforcement officials participating in the trip say it’s worth it to honor someone who is essentially one of their own.

“We’re just trying the best we can to get through the day for her, her family and for her community. We’re deeply saddened for all of them,” says Commander Anderson.

The funeral procession for Natalie Corona is at 11 am in Davis.
