High Surf Warning on the Central Coast ends Friday

The National Weather Service issued a High Surf Warning for all immediate coastal areas stretching through Friday.

A Coastal Flood Advisory came alongside that warning, however the advisory passed as of 9 am Thursday.

The High Surf Warning, meanwhile, is expected to last until 5 pm Friday.

Residents in Aptos on Beach Drive set their sights on high surf conditions like this long ago, having placed sandbags and barriers at their property to make sure any runoff or debris entering their property is kept to a minimum.

In the past, the Capitola Wharf saw high surf conditions damage the wharf so much it had to be closed to vehicles.

Whether that happens this time around remains to be seen.

Residents should expect westerly wells of 16-24 feet with breaking waves of 25-30 feet.

This will cause high wave run-up, dangerous rip currents and beach erosion, leading to potential coastal flooding.
