At least 6,000 without power on Monterey Peninsula

More than 6,000 Pacific Gas and Electric customers are without power in the areas around Monterey, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach and Carmel.

The outages started at various times throughout Wednesday evening, and PG&E is investigating the causes.

Most of the outages do not have a known cause listed, but for one area it may have been an equipment issue.

There is not an estimate for when it will be restored yet.
