Dive shop taking donations for Monterey Coast Guard

The Coast Guard is the only branch of military not getting paid during the partial government shutdown.

The Coast Guard falls under homeland security, so for the past three weeks the Coast Guard has been 100 percent operational but the employees have not been receiving paychecks.

A Monterey dive shop, just down the road from the Coast Guard station decided to start a food drive to help out their friends who aren’t getting paid.

The owner of Out to Sea, Chris Eubank served in the Coast Guard and felt it was only right to support the Coast Guard.

Out to Sea will be taking non-perishable food donations for the remainder of the government shutdown.

Tonight on KION News Channel 5/46 Drew Andre speaks with the owners and people who have been stopping by to donate.
