HWY 1 closure and alternate route

With several storm systems approaching the Central Coast, certain parts of HWY 1 are being closed until further notice.

Moderate to heavy rain is likely over the next few days, and that could lead to mudslides. Caltrans has closed the locations of the Paul’s Slide and Mud Creek slide until the weather gets better.

However, the 13 miles between those two locations are still open… with an alternate route.

We sent our Meteorologist Zach McIntyre to drive it and see how long it would take from Salinas.
