Man arrested after stabbing in a Santa Cruz park

A man was arrested in Santa Cruz after police said he stabbed a parent who was with their child at a park.

According to police, it happened on Tuesday, January 8th at Depot Park.

Police said 30-year-old Lorenzo Alex Silva confronted the victim and asked if they knew a woman who was also at the park. The victim said Silva didn’t believe what they said and he swung his knife at the victim, stabbing them.

Silva then took off on foot. The parent told officers they then realized they had been stabbed once in the arm. The victim drove to the hospital where they identified Silva as the suspect by looking through online booking pictures.

Silva was arrested the next day for Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Silva was on probation at the time in Santa Cruz through Post Release Community Supervision.

Santa Cruz Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call them.
