First Female DA in Monterey County Sworn In

History was made in Monterey County Monday after the first woman district attorney in the county was sworn in.

Jeannine Pacioni’s swearing in ceremony took place at the Monterey County Board of Supervisor’s Chambers.

She takes over the role from Dean Flippo who retired after 28 years. Flippo was at the ceremony today, praising Pacioni and offering her advice.

Pacioni first came to Monterey County in 1992 as a deputy district attorney. In 2001 she took an 8-year break to raise her children.

“I’ve had the best of both worlds,” Pacioni said, “I’ve been able to have a career and have my home life, it may not always happen at the same time, because they both take a lot of effort.”

Pacioni returned to the DA’s office in 2009, becoming assistant district attorney in 2014.

She will now serve a four year term as District Attorney.
