Police activity on Main Street in Watsonville

UPDATE: Watsonville Police say the incident has ended without force and without any reported injuries. At 3:13 p.m. they posted that their crisis negotiations team was able to talk the man down from the car.

WPD tells KION the suspect was unarmed. He is not facing any charges, as of now, and was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation.

Watsonville Police say people should avoid the area around Main Street and Ohlone Pkwy while they convince a man to come down from the roof of his SUV.

Police say he has been on the SUV for two hours making comments about family.

Officers responded to the area after several calls from drivers and have been talking to him.

They say he destroyed the truck with his own body, and an audience has gathered egging him on.

As of Saturday afternoon at 2:15 p.m., the area is still blocked off.
