Victim identified in Klamath Drive shooting

UPDATE 6/6/18: The victim on the shooting on Klamath Dr. has been identified as 37-year-old Lorenzo Gomez Acosta.

Officials say Acosta has only been in Salinas a short period of time and was visiting relatives and working in the area. Acosta was on the phone with his wife, who is in Mexico, when he was approached by an unknown male. A short scuffle occurred before he was shot several times.

He does not appear to be associated with any gangs and the motive for the shooting is unknown.

One man is dead after being shot in his car.

This happened near the 1700 block of Klamath in Salinas.

At about 9:30 Saturday night Salinas Police responded to reports of shots fired and found a man in his 30’s shot multiple times in a car.

Police were unable to revive him.

The shooter is still unknown and may have gotten away on foot.
