UPDATE: Hecker Pass fire out, highway reopen

UPDATE 4/4/2018 9:47 a.m. Gilroy police say a fire on Hecker Pass Highway is under control.

Hecker Pass remained closed from Santa Teresa Blvd to Burchell Road until early Wednesday morning as PG&E worked to repair the downed power lines.

ORIGINAL POST: Multiple fire agencies are working a vegetation fire in Gilroy.

A large tree limb fell onto power lines and ignited a fire in the 2200 block of Hecker Pass Highway.

PG&E has cut the power lines which will affect electricity to some residents in the area.

Hecker Pass is closed in both directions about a half mile west of Santa Teresa Boulevard.

Please consider an alternate route.
