Goodyear blimp making an appearance on the Monterey Peninsula

The Goodyear blimp has made its way to the Peninsula to help with coverage of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

And KION had the chance to give you an exclusive look at the newest airship ‘Wingfoot Two.’

This is the blimp’s first visit to California’s Central Coast and fans at Pebble Beach will see the blimp overhead the golf tournament on Saturday, February 10 and Sunday, February 11.

The Goodyear Blimp is providing aerial coverage to five CBS Sports telecasts of the 2018 PGA Tour. Wingfoot Two is scheduled to cover four of the west region golf events in California and Arizona while its sister ship Wingfoot One will cover the Honda Classic in Florida.

Wingfoot Two is moored at the Salinas Municipal Airport in Salinas, California until Monday, February 12.

At more than 246 feet long (82 yards), Wingfoot Two is nearly as long as a football field and stretches half the length of the 178-yard, par 3 Hole 17 on the Pebble Beach Golf Links. The blimp’s top speed is 73 miles per hour. Its three vectoring engines allow for excellent maneuverability and an aluminum and carbon fiber semi-rigid frame supports an envelope with the capacity to hold nearly 300,000 cubic feet of helium, the equivalent of more than 209 million golf balls.
