Iconic movie,”Vertigo” celebrating big 6-0 in filming location, San Juan Bautista

It’s been nearly 60 years since Alfred Hitchcock traveled to San Juan Bautista to film one of his most famous films, Vertigo. On Saturday you can get a one of a kind movie experience where some of the scenes were shot.

Filming was done in the plaza hall, stables, and of course the mission. Saturday 8:00 p.m. they will show the famous film on location. A showing of vertigo will happen on the Plaza Lawn. 60-years ago in October is when they came to San Juan Bautista and not much has changed since then.

“Because we’re a State Historic Park our goal is to maintain the history of the building, very little has changed. Especially in the plaza stables. They filmed several scenes in there, very important scenes in vertigo. And if you look at the film it looks exactly the same,” said Park Interpreter Marcos Vizcaino.

A large inflatable screen and surround sound will be set up right next to the mission for viewing.Feel free to pack a picnic. There will also be concessions. Vertigo is regarded as one of the American Film Institute’s Top 100 Films. Alfred Hitchcock went on to create other creepy classics such as The Birds and Psycho.
