Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk to offer ice skating starting November

Though snowfall isn’t very common in our area, Santa Cruz is bringing a taste of winter to the Beach Boardwalk with ice skating this holiday season.

Officials say they are doing this in an effort to provide guests a new way to celebrate the holidays.

Starting November 11, the park’s Main Entrance Plaza will offer ice skating, holiday decorations, rides, games and other treats. On top of that, a 30 foot Christmas tree will light up the Main Entrance, holiday prizes will be distributed at the games, and festive music and lights will fill the Plaza.

“Our new Main Entrance Plaza is a wonderful new space for special events like this,” said event director Karley Pope. “The Boardwalk has always been a place to create summer fun memories, now families can create winter holiday memories with ice skating and Boardwalk fun!”

The Boardwalk’s new 40′ x 60′ ice skating rink will offer one hour of ice skating for $12 from November 11 through January 7, which includes skates. The rink will be placed in front of the Pirate Ship, and rink uses real ice. The rink will be covered so that skating can continue rain or shine.

Reservations may be made online starting in November. For more information click here.
