Carmel Valley man sentened to prison after giving false name to Officer

52-year-old Donnie Warner has been sentenced to 32 months in prison for providing a false name to a Carmel Police Officer, as well as a handful of misdemeanor offenses ranging from narcotics possession to trespassing.

On April 19, Carmel Police Officer Mike Bruno says he was conducting routine traffic enforcement when he noticed a vehicle with a severely cracked windshield. Officer Bruno stopped the vehicle, and the driver, Warner, provided a false name. Warner was cited and released for driving without a license.

Warner’s true identity was not ascertained until he was later arrested in Monterey on June 7, 2017.

On August 31, 2017, Monterey County Superior Court Judge Robert A. Burlison sentenced Warner to sixteen months in prison, which was then doubled due to a prior strike conviction.
