Goveror Brown declares State of Emergency in Trinity County due to Helena Fire

The Helena Fire burning in Trinity County in Northern California has burned at least 6,000 acres since starting on August 30th at 5:15 p.m.

Officials have ordered evacuations for many in the area. So far, about 2,000 people have been asked to leave their homes.

The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office and Governor Jerry Brown have now declared a state of emergency for the fire, as it has already damaged critical infrastructure and destroyed homes.
