Teen arrested for shooting near King City High School

A 14-year-old boy has been arrested for attempted murder in King City.

According to the King City Police Department, the teen is responsible for the shooting that took place on the 100 block of N. Mildred Street in front of King City High School back in March.

Officers arrived to the scene around 11 a.m. and were told the teen ran through the campus. A surveillance camera at the high school captured the suspects face.

An 18-year-old high school student had been shot and transported to Mee Memorial Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. The victim told officers he was in his car when a suspect shot at him.

The teen appeared in court for the gang related shooting and was arrested on August 15.

Police told KION that they are looking for another minor involved in the case. The department believes the two male suspects were involved in another shooting that day.

The case has been forwarded to the Monterey County District Attorney’s Office and charges have been filed against the 17-year-old for attempted murder.
