Soquel: Routine traffic stop leads to arrest of car thief

California Highway Patrol officers arrested a Watsonville man Monday for driving a stolen vehicle as well as having multiple outstanding arrest warrants.

Authorities pulled over a 49-year-old Watsonville man driving a Toyota pickup truck for carrying an unsafe load Monday afternoon. Officers then realized that the truck had been reported missing last year.

CHP officers said, the truck had license plates with the wrong number on them in an attempt to avoid being recognized.

The stop was made on Laurel Glen Road near Soquel San Jose Road.
