Santa Cruz Brewery raises funds for Coastal Rail Trail

Some new support for two different ideas on what to do with 32 miles of train tracks in Santa Cruz County.

This week Dominican Hospital endorsed a project that would remove the tracks to make way for a paved multi-use path.

However new fundraising efforts are underway for a plan to keep the tracks for future transportation needs and to add a path.

The Land Trust of Santa Cruz County has committed $5.9 million in matching funds to help build the 32-mile Coastal Rail Trail, from Watsonville to Davenport.

Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing plans to help the nonprofit fundraise for the project through sales of Rail Trail IPA. Twenty-five percent of profits from sale of the beer will be contributed to the Land Trust for their work on the project.
