Search suspended for missing man near Tides hotel in Monterey

UPDATE 6/13/2017 9:34 a.m. : The Coast Guard has suspended search for a missing boogie boarder near Monterey.

Eye witnesses told first responders they saw an African American male in his 30’s boogie boarding near Sand Dunes Beach Monday evening.

Tuesday morning crews conducted a search by helicopter but found no sign of a missing person or any debris. Monday night a search team used an 87 foot patrol boat to try and find the boogie boarder.

No reports of a missing person or an abandoned vehicle have been reported that could link to the boogie boarder.

The Coast Guard said at this time the search will be suspended until new information comes in.

Search and rescue crews are looking for a boogie boarder that went missing Monday night.

The Coast Guard says the man went missing around 9 p.m. near the Tides Hotel in Monterey.

Crews searched by water and air overnight and will continue the search this morning.

The missing man was described as a Black male wearing a black wetsuit.
