Salinas community holds vigil for Pulse nightclub victims

It has been one year since a man opened fire at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

49 people died in the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history on Sunday June 12, 2016.

Monday night the community of Salinas plans to come together to honor and remember #PulseOrlando.

The anniversary vigil will be hosted by, “Our Gente” an organization which provides training, community events, and monthly socials by and for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual youth here on the central coast.

The potluck vigil will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Maple Street in Salinas.

Activities include an art station, open mic, and a bonfire.
