Another arrest in Monterey County Jail drug smuggling ring

Monterey County Sheriff’s arrested 34-year-old Virginia Meza for possession of more than 1/4 pound of crystal meth and drug sales paraphernalia.

Detectives served a search warrant on an apartment complex in the 100 block of Rossi Street in Salinas.

Meza is a known Norteña gang associate. The Sheriff’s Office said this is the culmination of the investigation of dangerous drugs being mailed into the Monterey County Jail facility.

This marks the third round of arrests.

Meza is in custody at the Monterey County Jail on illegal drug sales charges.
