Soquel Demonstration State Forest Reopening this weekend

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE), Soquel Demonstration State Forest (SDSF) was closed in January of this year due to storm damage over the winter.

Repairs to the forest infrastructure has been completed. Thursday and Friday crews were clearing fallen trees from the trails and preparing the emergency landing zones for the summer.

Cal Fire said the forest will be open Saturday, June 3.

Later this summer, Tractor Road and Hihn’s Mill Road will be used for transporting logs with log trucks affecting access to the Flow Trail. The Flow Trail will be closed on week days during log trucking.

Trespassing through a closed area is considered a misdemeanor.

Cal Fire would like to remind the public that SDSF is a very remote location with no drinking water and limited bathrooms. SDSF is open during daylight hours only. Fires of any kind are not allowed including campfires, barbeques, or portable gas stoves.
