Veterans parade expected to bring thousands to Oldtown Salinas

The Salinas Veterans Day Parade will bring thousands from all over the Central Coast to Salinas to honor those who have served and are serving today. The parade had a humble, but inspiring, start. “We just said there’s nothing for Veterans Day in Monterey County. Our very first parade it rained, and it was just motivating. And now we’re at year six,” said parade organizer Tony Virrueta.

Last year more than 10,000 people came out to watch the parade. They’re expecting even more this year.

“Start time is at 2:00 p.m. sharp. We are going to have opening ceremonies at 1:30 p.m.,” said Virrueta.

More than 100 entrants have signed up.

“Everybody come out. It’s a great day to honor them and recognize the families of veterans. They as well have sacrificed for their soldiers,” said Virrueta.
