Watsonville couple behind bars, accused of Child Endangerment

A Watsonville couple is behind bars after they were caught manufacturing Butane Honey Oil, a form of concentrated cannabis.

Police were dispatched to an apartment at 485 Holohan Road early Monday morning, for a report of a large ball of fire on a balcony and people arguing around it.

Upon arrival, they found a significant amount of smoke and six people in the apartment: a three-year-old child, two teenagers and three adults.

According to Watsonville police, Maria De La Luz Lopez and her fiance, Israel Alamillo, were manufacturing the Butane Honey Oil that caused an explosion and fire on the balcony.

Due to smoke inhalation, the three-year-old was taken to a local hospital.

Lopez and Alamillo were arrested and booked into the county jail for Child Endangerment and Manufacture of a Controlled Substance.
